and again
this must be a quicky as need to get back to the hostel to continue drinking beer then go out and hopefully party with some locals
last night proved to be typically eastern european: customer "service" was at its best with curt "no's" and straigtforward attidude. the local cuisine is great but 2hour wait and no apologies, let alone half the menu being unavailible, was quite funny.
after reports from friends that were here the previous night of packed streets and gorgeous locals (both male and female) proved to not hold true for a saturday night because the whole of the youthful population were either at home depressed after the local bosnian team lost the football, or at the seaside for the day/night. hopefully sunday evening shall be a different story I believe and drinking with brits and irish people always tests the your metal. who knows how much sleep I will be getting tonight.
had a great day walking around town, took dorky tourist photo's outside franz ferdinand's plauque and then saw the burnt-out library where the bosnians lost 2million books and cultural relics. had lunch with a nice bloke from bristol by the name of jim who is an impressive traveller and a genuinely enthusiastic tourist; he researches well and is good with local phrases and courtesies. he's off to albania and i wish him well. have counted myself lucky for meeting so many nice people on this trip and plan to visit and have beers with several of my current companion's in theirhome countries in the future.
on a bus tomorrow to mostar for a day trip on the way back to dubrovnik to hit the beers with liam who I haven't seen in 6months and greatly looking forward to giving him shit in person...
i repeat; sarajevo a must do. have been recommended romania and many other eastern european states by other travellers here but they may have to wait. as astounding as it is i seem to not have enough time to see these places despite the 5months ahead of me. my itinerary is dragging me away from the east but you never know what could happen
